Library: KYC provides library services with a station library for youth and children. The youth section has a book bank with a variety of books for Ordinary, Advanced and Higher Institutional level. In stock too, are reference material, pamphlets and text books on topical issues. KYC Library is in the process of establishing an E-library where library users can get a variety of online e-resources to meet their information needs in addition to what the station library offers. Available e-resources include literature, inspirational and fiction books. KYC library also has a reading room with a sitting capacity of 80 people.
Mobile Library: KYC currently provides 26 schools with textbooks and readers that can be used by students/ pupils and teachers during the school term. KYC staff also facilitates reading sessions in classes with activities such as drawing, painting, story writing, educational, inspirational and fun movies among others all of which aim at stimulating fun in reading and literacy. Teachers’ workshops: Under the mobile library service, KYC also conducts teachers’ workshops at least once a year aimed at inspiring teachers in their profession and training them in how to promote reading and manage their school libraries.
Children’s library: KYC has a well stocked library for children with primary text books, local and western readers. Children’s reading sessions are organised at KYC on a weekly basis during the holidays. Activities include reading in groups, individual reading, story writing, painting, shading, art and crafts, cooking movie shows among others.
Seminars/ workshops and trainings: These are organised at the centre and in schools to provide youth with access to information on topical issues like HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, hygiene, entrepreneurship, and career planning among others.
